The Indianola City Council held a study session after their meeting Monday, reviewing the Capital Improvement Plan for the city. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News the study session was a part of the budget process, and there has been a lot of development in terms of a schedule for budgeting out replacement vehicles and equipment for city staff.

“I’m very happy to report that we are at a point now that we are simply replacing those vehicles and equipment. We are on a good schedule, and that is important because the things that are being replaced are paid for by cash. We are able to afford it, and we are planning for it. That makes sure our snow plows, fire trucks, ambulances, and police cars are all operating safely and efficiently so our team can respond at a moment’s notice.”

Waller also said a system was not in place several years ago, and credit goes to staff for finding ways to be more efficient with taxpayer money.
