A daunting task awaits the Pella Christian volleyball team in the Marshalltown Roundhouse Monday as the Eagles travel to take on No. 3 Dike-New Hartford in the Class 2A regional volleyball semifinals.

Pella Christian will try to upset one of the traditional Class 2A powers, as the Wolverines are frequent visitors to the state tournament. Dike-New Hartford is led by twin sisters Payton Petersen with 368 kills and a .357 efficiency rating and Jadyn, who has 145 kills — she is the daughter of UNI Head Coach Bobbi Petersen, who currently coaches Lady Dutch alumna Emily Holterhaus. The Petersen family has been a big part of the Wolverines’ stretch of success, qualifying for 12 state tournaments from 2007 to 2018, with six championships during that stretch.

The Eagles swept Pleasantville last Wednesday to advance, and hope to have their full starting rotation together for the first time since they won their home tournament. First serve between Pella Christian and Dike-New Hartford at the Roundhouse in Marshalltown is at 7 p.m. Monday.
