Marion County had one of its highest voter turnout in history, according to Marion County Auditor Jake Grandia. He says that it was great to have such a great turnout, and thanks the poll workers for their efforts.

“Marion County had a really strong turnout at the polls, we’re really happy about that. People came out and took the opportunity to vote, and that’s awesome. I want to thank all the precinct election officials that spent their day out there in this environment, and it’s just awesome, and we can’t say ‘Thank you’ enough. High turnout in Marion County, just like we always do.”

Nearly 80 percent of Marion County’s registered voters turned in ballots, whether on Election Day or through absentee voting. According to Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate, there was an all-time record turnout statewide by at least 80,000 votes — the previous mark being 1.59 million in 2012.
