A seaplane attempting to land on Lake Red Rock near Elk Rock State Park shortly after noon today hit the water and flipped. Emergency crews made contact with both occupants, and no one was injured. It is currently unclear whether the incident was due to mechanical or pilot error. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Knoxville Township Rural Fire Department, the Knoxville Fire Department, the Corp of Engineers, DNR, and Marion County Emergency Management responded to the scene. The incident is still under investigation.
