Last year, the Twin Cedars Girls Basketball Squad finished ninth in the Bluegrass Conference. With as much scoring and defense back this season head Coach Trent Verwers says they should be able to contend for an upper half finish in the BGC. He says Lamoni and Orient-Macksburg are the two favorites, and he is also looking forward to the meeting with rival Melcher-Dallas on December 18th. Verwers adds this year’s matchup with the Saints will have a slightly extra motivating factor as former Twin Cedars player Haley Hoch is now playing for the Saints after transferring in the offseason.

Verwers:
I would say Lamoni and Melcher-Dallas, returning their team. I wouldn’t say we’re looking past that game with Melcher-Dallas coming to our play this year.”

Twin Cedars started the season on Friday falling to Pleasantville 44-27 and are scheduled to host Orient-Macksburg in their conference opener on Tuesday.
