A period of wet weather begins later today as a broad area of precipitation spreads the state from south to north. Temperatures will be warm enough to favor all rain in south central Iowa. Rainfall totals between 1 to 2 inches are expected before the system departs the area.

Brief snow is possible overnight tonight, but no accumulation is expected. The precipitation will give way to more seasonable, dry conditions by the middle of the week, with day time highs hovering a few degrees below to above 50 Wednesday through Saturday, with partly to mostly skies after the rain leaves.
