melcher-dallas-5

The Melcher-Dallas girls basketball team started off their season on a sour note, falling to Wayne 40-33.

Kynser Reed led the way for the Saints with 12 points and ten rebounds, but she struggled shooting from the free-throw line, knocking down just two of 16 free throws. Haley Godfrey was second on the team in scoring with 11, including three three-pointers.

Melcher-Dallas coach Kelsey Goff tells KNIA Sports at the beginning of the season that the free throw shooting was something that needed to be improved upon, and it was obvious they need to continue to do that as the Saints shot just two for 20 from the line.

Wayne’s top scorer was Emily Jones, who had 16 points, including two three-pointers. She shot six of 15 from the field. This loss marks the sixth consecutive time Melcher-Dallas lost to Wayne.

Melcher-Dallas will look for their first win of the season next Tuesday on December 1st against Pleasantville. The game will be broadcasted at kniakrls.com on the KNIA3 stream.
