The wide range of economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic has not stopped the City of Indianola from performing regular city business, and according to Community and Economic Development Director Charlie Dissell, permit applications for building projects are higher than the 2019 total. Dissell tells KNIA News what the city anticipates.

“We continue to see an increase in the number of permits really in all areas. Commercial over the summer was a little bit slower but that has picked up in the last several months due to people trying to hurry up and get stuff in the ground before it freezes up and winter hits, but other than that we are seeing increases and are over 180 permits issued this past week so doing well on that total number.”

Dissell also said the city anticipates over 200 permits issued by the end of the year.
