indianola-3

The Indianola girls and boys basketball teams take a trip east today, beginning Little Hawkeye Conference play on the road against Pella. The Indians girls evened their record against North Polk Monday evening in a close win, but will again have to improve their outside shooting after making just 5 three’s in 21 attempts from long range, and shot below 40% for the contest. The Indians boys had a slow start in their opening contest against the Comets, but Head Coach Brett Watson tells KNIA Sports now that his squad has been able to compete in a live game, their improvement will come rapidly.

“Everyone is in new roles so it will take awhile for us to start gelling, kind of seeing where everyone fits in. But for our first game of the season, we’ll take it. Give a lot of credit to those kids, you can practice and simulate a lot of different things, but when the lights come on it’s a whole new game and I’m really proud of how they responded.”

Action can be heard live tonight on 94.3 KNIA, as well as the KNIA2 and KRLS2 streams on KNIAKRLS.com. Andrew Schneider has the play-by-play, with pregame coverage beginning at 5:45pm.
