Thursday night was busy for the PCM Mustangs, including the first basketball double header and wrestling meet of the year.

Both basketball teams fell to Montezuma on the road. The girls lost 59-38 and sit at 0-3 on the year. They were down 22-2 after the first quarter and trailed by 26 at the break, but did outscore the No. 10 in Class 1A Bravettes in the second half 29-24. The Mustangs were led by sophomore Paige Steenhoek, who scored eight points. Seniors Lilli Baird, Celeste Wagaman, and Emma George each scored seven.

The PCM boys dropped to 0-2 on the year after their 82-71 loss to the Braves. The score did fluctuate a bit during the contest. After trailing by 10 at one point and by 7 at halftime, the Mustangs went on a run that saw them up 46-43 in the third quarter. Unfortunately, Montezuma went on a big run of their own and wound up with the double digit win. Junior Carson Vande Lune and senior Grant Landgrebe led PCM in scoring with 17 and 15 points, respectively.

The Mustangs wrestling squad hit the mats on Thursday in a home triangular featuring Ogden and Van Meter/Earlham. The Mustangs swept both Bulldogs squads with finals of 54-27 over Ogden and 42-33 over Van Meter/Earlham. Notable victories for PCM include Colby Tool over Jon Seeger (160 lbs.) with a pin after 46 seconds. Cooper Sloan also had a 46 second pin of his own Aiden Kathman (220 lbs.). Both opponents were from Ogden. Landon Fenton had his teammates beat with a pin after just 39 seconds over Ryan Stiles of Van Meter/Earlham (145 lbs).
