Pella Christian’s basketball teams are hosting a doubleheader tonight, but it’s a rare split twinbill, with the girls playing host to Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, while the boys entertain Ottumwa.

The winner of the girls game will head into Christmas break above .500, while the loser will be one game below it.  Pella Christian is currently 3-3, while E-B-F is 4-4.  The Eagles most recent game was a blowout loss to Grinnell, and coach Brad Engbers said afterwards that his squad needs to regain some confidence from that setback.

“If you have an off shooting night (Friday night) because the pace was too fast to get your shots off, you can’t doubt yourself.  We need to go into tonight’s game with some confidence, understand that we’re still a competitive team, and we’re going to keep going.”

The PC boys are 2-3, and were also scheduled to play E-B-F tonight.  That game was cancelled due to covid, and the Eagles found class 4A Ottumwa as a replacement.  The Bulldogs are 2-2.

Both of tonight’s games can be heard on 92.1 KRLS, with Trevor Castle and Wynne Veenstra on the call.  Pregame for the girls game hits the air at 6:00 with action starting at 6:15.
