The Knoxville Senior Center is responsible for delivering hot meals four times a week to elderly Knoxville residents. Martha Dykstra says this is part of the organization’s Meals on Wheels program. She says that volunteers are critical to the operation of the organization, and that people can be the only source of interaction the elderly have.

“We have four routes in Knoxville, each one takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes to deliver. The volunteers are the only contact that some of these people have, especially now during this pandemic, when they find themselves basically stranded at home.”

The Senior Center is also offering contactless delivery options, among numerous other precautions as it relates to COVID-19. To volunteer, call (641) 842-6070.
