The departments at the Marion County Courthouse recently underwent some upgrades during the elevator installation. Treasurer Michaela Bigaouette says that the treasurer’s office has undergone changes to increase safety and privacy.

“The first thing you notice when you walk up to our office is that the driver’s license station has been completely revamped. That was done in-house by our maintenance team, that was not contracted out. It looks absolutely beautiful, it looks original with the courthouse, and above and beyond that, it’s functional. Previously when you came to our office, you often stood in line with other people to have your personal identity document renewed. Now, we have two private driver’s license stations that you’re able to go to and have a private conversation with the examiner about, for example, a seizure condition. You’re now able to do that and have your privacy protected, and we are really happy to be able to offer that service to our residents.”

In addition to these enhanced driver’s license stations, glass dividers have been installed at the counter to provide a safeguard between the public and staff. Hear more about the changes to the treasurer’s office here.
