coaches-vs-cancer-3

Many things in 2021 will still look different this sports season when the new year arrives on Friday. One of the biggest events on the Knoxville calendar is the annual Coaches vs. Cancer day. Normally this is an all-day event with alumni basketball games and a silent auction that usually reaches over 200 items that takes up nearly half of the Knoxville high school commons area. But due to COVID-19 the alumni games likely are not happening and the silent auction will more than likely be online. Girls Basketball Coach and Co-Coordinator of the event Jim Uitermarkt tells KNIA/KRLS Sports for the rest of the event, they are still waiting to see if the crowd restrictions will be relaxed.

Uitermarkt:
“Nothing has changed right now, we can’t do any of out normal things due to attendance at events. We’re still in that phase of collecting donation and auction items and it might just have to be online.”

The honor ceremony, which happens between the girls and boys basketball games is still on hold pending if the crowd restrictions are relaxed. T-Shirt orders are currently being taken at knoxvillecvc2021.itemorder.com. You must order your shirt by January 7th. The games against Chariton are scheduled for January 23rd and can be heard on 95.3 KNIA.
