When the 89th General Assembly of the Iowa Legislature begins next week, adjustments will be made to operations to accommodate for COVID-19 mitigation. State Senator Amy Sinclair says that people will still be able to let their voices be heard.
“We’re going to make a few changes to how we function at the capitol this upcoming year. The building, constitutionally, will be open while we are in session, so the general public can come to the building. There will be health screenings as you walk through the door, you’ll have your temperature taken. So be prepared for that if anyone is going to come meet with me. Additionally, there is no defined restrictions on subcommittees, so we’ve set up technology so that subcommittees can be held remotely. Those will be open to the public, so people can drop in and share their thoughts on legislation. A link will be published every time.”
Sinclair is the Chair of the Senate Education Committee, and represents District 14, encompassing much of Marion County.
