Staff at Motor Inn of Knoxville presented a check to Knoxville Coaches vs. Cancer Thursday afternoon in the amount of $1,630. Service Manager Rick James says he feels honored to be able to help a local cause.

“We’re excited about it. I grew up in this community. So did our general manager. We try to participate in the local community activities.”

The Knoxville Coaches vs. Cancer event will be altered this year, and organizer Jim Uitermarkt tells KNIA/KRLS News that it’s the local businesses that make Knoxville Coaches vs. Cancer what it is.

“One of the things that makes our Coaches vs. Cancer event what it is people like Motor Inn. What’s kind of special about this is that I didn’t come to Rick or Motor Inn and ask them to do this. They did this on their own. That also makes it pretty special to us that they just decided that our event was something they want to be part of.”

The funds were raised by donating $10 for every oil change the dealer performed in October. Knoxville Coaches vs. Cancer takes place all day Saturday, January 23rd.
