melcher-dallas-3

Melcher-Dallas will be back in action for a non-conference doubleheader at Southeast Warren tonight to take on the Warhawks.

The Saints girls are currently in the midst of a four-game winning streak thanks to stellar team defense. The most points Melcher-Dallas gave up over their last four games was 35 points in a win over Murray January 4. Their last game was a 44-34 overtime thriller over Murray Tuesday. Coach Kelsey Goff tells KNIA Sports that she hopes the momentum continues into the next game.

“Just keep playing hard. I haven’t looked too hard at their players because they are not in our conference. I will look at that and they need to keep doing what they are doing. Just keep playing tough defense.”

Melcher-Dallas’ girls will be looking for their first win against Southeast Warren since 2010. The last time these two teams met was December 2019, which was an 82-75 win for the Warhawks.

The Saints’ boys will be looking to bounce back after losing to Murray at home Tuesday night. Melcher-Dallas will be going up against a Warhawk team that is winless on the season. Coach Jim Wells tells KNIA Sports that his team needs to rebound the ball more in order to win.

“I think we need to knock down some shots. I don’t think we hardly hit any threes tonight. It would have been nice if we faked a three, took a dribble and knocked down a 15 footer. I think we need to knock a lot more of them.”

Melcher-Dallas has won the last three matchups with Southeast Warren. Their last matchup was December 2019, when the Saints came away with a 73-59 victory.

The doubleheader is scheduled to tip off at Southeast Warren High School with the girls game starting at 6:00 PM.
