indianola-3

The #14 in class 5A Indianola girls basketball team will make a solo trip to the western border of the state to take on the #1 in class 4A Glenwood Rams this evening, in a matchup of two of the highest scoring teams in the state. The high-flying Rams are undefeated against Iowa teams and sport a 9-2 record overall, scoring the most points in class 4A to the tune of 72 points per game. The Indians are the third highest scoring team in class 5A, averaging over 60 points per contest, and are shooting 32% from long range this season. Indians head coach Jeff Janssen tells KNIA sports the Indians are on an 11-game winning streak, but that doesn’t affect the teams play in any way, they are just focused on getting better.

“We want to continue to work on being consistent. Consistent with our helpside defense, consistent with our communication on screens, consistently get great shots and pass up ok shots. We’ve seen glimpses of it for sure, but that consistency and sense of urgency to get stops and good looks every single possession, and if we can continue to do that we’ll be happy. We haven’t talked about our winning streak at all, nothing is more important than the next game.

Action starts tonight at 6:30pm.
