melcher-dallas-5

The Melcher-Dallas Saints split a Bluegrass Conference Doubleheader Monday night with Conference powerhouse Lamoni. The boys won, 70-55, but the girls lost 53-43.

The Saints boys got their second win of the season, improving their record to 2-4 on the season. Lane VanderLinden had a double-double, scoring 25 points and hauling down ten rebounds. Melcher-Dallas also got a combined 31 points from Steven and Ryan Krpan. The Saints jumped out to a 19-point halftime lead and never relinquished it.

Melcher-Dallas’ girls’ winning streak came to an end, dropping their record to 4-3 on the season. The Saints did get a double-double from Hailey Hoch as she had 13 points and ten rebounds. The Saints outrebounded Lamoni, but cold shooting and missed free throws were ultimately the difference in the loss.

The Saints will have a quick turnaround as they have another home Bluegrass Conference Doubleheader tonight against Mormon Trail. The doubleheader will begin with the girls’ game tipping off at 6:00 PM.
