The Knoxville Police Department issued 31 citations for vehicles parked on city streets during the most recent snow ordinance, which was in effect for much of the day Friday. Arlene Worrall with the department tells KNIA/KRLS News that this is a slight increase from the previous snow ordinance.

Enforcement officers will be performing sidewalk inspections this week to ensure they are cleared of snow and ice. Worrall reminds residents that they have 24 hours after snowfall ends to clear their portions of public sidewalks, and that they could face fines if not done properly. Residents are also encouraged to contact the department if they know of a property whose sidewalk has not been cleared.
