
Iowa Workforce Development released unemployment numbers for December of 2020.
At the end of the year, 2.4% of Marion County residents were out of work and seeking jobs. In total, 17,180 individuals were employed and 420 were receiving state benefits. This was down from 2.6% unemployment in November and the same rate as December of 2019.
In Warren County, 2.9% of residents were out of work and seeking jobs. In total, 25,500 residents were employed and 800 were receiving state benefits. This was slightly up from 2.8% unemployment in November and from 2019, when it was 2.5% in December of last year.
Iowa’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.1 percent in December, a drop from the November revised rate of 3.8 percent. The state’s jobless rate was 2.8 percent one year ago. The U.S. unemployment rate remained at 6.7 percent at the end of 2020.
