The State of Iowa will progress to the next stage of the vaccination plan, Phase 1B on Monday, February 1st, prioritizing first responders, childcare workers, and school staff, then everyone 65 and older can receive the vaccine as they are at high risk of hospitalization, illness, and death from COVID-19. Warren County Health Services Director Jodene DeVault tells KNIA News Iowa is progressing through the vaccination plan as a state, rather than county by county.

“Iowa will progress to the phases together. The rationale for that you can probably figure out. Let’s say a smaller county like Adair County is done with their 1A population, they aren’t having any appointments, people are not coming to them, they are done. So let’s say Adair County moves to 1B, who will be coming to them to get shots? And they don’t have the capacity for that.”
