A wintry mix of precipitation is expected this weekend across the northeast half of Iowa. A winter weather advisory has been issued until 6 a.m. Sunday for Marion and Warren Counties. Areas of freezing drizzle or freezing rain will develop early across central to northern Iowa. The freezing precipitation is likely to persist and even increase in intensity during the afternoon hours — accumulations are expected to be low locally. There will be a period of a wintry mix of freezing rain and snow in the late afternoon into early evening hours before switching over to all snow, with 1-3 inches possible, and heavier amounts of both ice and snow in the northeast quadrant of Iowa.
