The road to Wells Fargo Arena continues in the Substate semifinals at the last event to be held this winter at Pella High School.

No. 2 Pella aims to knock off Newton for the chance to get to the Sweet 16 of Class 3A boys basketball this evening. Meeting for the third time this season, the Dutch have eyes on extending a season sweep against their conference opponent; Pella defeated the Cardinals by a 73-35 margin on December 18th and in a much closer 69-64 win on January 29th, and have won the past seven matchups between the schools, including a Substate semifinal in 2019.

The Cardinals edged past Knoxville in a 59-55 win to advance Monday, while the 2021 Little Hawkeye Conference champions are in the midst of a late season surge–winning five in a row since a loss to No. 4 DCG and averaging a margin of victory of 32 points per game during that stretch, capped off by a 100-42 win over Centerville in the postseason opener.

Coverage from Pella High School begins at 6:30 this evening on 92.1 KRLS and the Pella Dutch Live YouTube channel.
