The Knoxville Public Library will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Iowa flag on Monday, March 29th. The flag was designed by Dixie Gebhardt, a Knoxville native. Director Roslin Thompson says there will be learning opportunities that afternoon.
“We will have a display of storyboards in the community room. Marla Suter will be here, and she’s our expert on Dixie Gebhardt. She can answer questions that people may have at 3:00. Mayor Hatch will also do a proclamation written by the DAR. We will have a high school music ensemble performing the official Iowa Flag song.”
Along with this programming on the 29th, the library will also have a self-guided tour beginning on March 15th that will take participants to locations around the city with significance to the Iowa flag or Dixie Gebhardt.
