The first part of the Twin Cedars Girls basketball season did not go as smooth as they wanted it to go. An early season quarantine due to COVID-19 reduced the team to just 3-4 players during practice and early season losses had the Sabers stumbling out of the gates with a 1-2 record. Coach Trent Verwers tells KNIA/KRLS Sports, the girls seem to gain a lot of confidence and realized they were able to play well in a victory over Valley Lutheran December 3rd.
Verwers:
“Things were not really working that great. I think that Valley Lutheran game we really saw a lot of improvement in that game and the score showed in that.”
The Sabers rolled Valley Lutheran 59-10. In that game Brooke Roby had a triple double with the unusual combination of points, rebounds, and steals. Verwers adds the girls continued to gain confidence through the season. Twin Cedars finished up with an 11-11 record.
