Four Central College women’s basketball players were cited as the American Rivers all-conference squad was released. A pair of sophomore guards, Kelsea Hurley and Carson Fisk were tabbed for the first and second teams, respectively. Guard Maci Gambell and forward Payton Rogers received honorable mention.

Hurley was named for the second time. She was a second-team all-league selection as a freshman. Hurley was Central’s top scorer with 14.3 points a game while knocking down a team-high 23 3-point goals in 10 games. She averaged 4.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists with 1.8 steals. In all but two games she scored in double figures, putting up 22 in a season-opening win at the University of Dubuque Jan. 23.

Fisk averaged 12.2 points, hitting 45.2% from the field, including 40.9% from 3-point range. She scored a season-high 22 points at Buena Vista Jan. 27 and was also a double-figures scorer in eight of 10 contests.

Gambell came off the bench to average 11.2 points and 4.7 rebounds and had a 17-point outing in Central’s league tournament win over the University of Dubuque March 9.

Rogers averaged 8.7 points and 6.7 rebounds, shooting 47.3% from the field. She had 19 points in a victory at Buena Vista Jan. 27, going 9-for-9 from the floor and a career-best 18-rebound effort against Dubuque March 9.

Under coach Joe Steinkamp, Central posted a 6-4 mark in the modified season and reached the American Rivers tourney semifinals for a top-four league finish. It was the program’s first appearance in the semifinals since 2000-01 and also the best finish in that span.
