The Knoxville School Board approved a new policy at its meeting Monday evening regarding the use of seatbelts on equipped buses. Business Manager Craig Mobley says that seatbelt use will be required for every passenger.

“With the change of the Iowa code a little over a year ago saying that any new school bus we purchase is required to be fitted with seatbelts, we needed to start looking at a policy for seatbelts on our buses. Earlier this year, we finally received our first bus with seat belts. Basically, the policy states that on any bus that has seat belts installed, all passengers will be required to have their seatbelt on and properly secured any time the bus is in motion.”

Mobley emphasizes that this policy applies to everyone, not just students. Hear more from Monday’s Knoxville School Board meeting on today’s Let’s Talk Knoxville.
