Pella Tennis Teams Sweep Ballard
The No. 3 in Class 1A Pella boys tennis team continued their early season dominance, knocking off No. 9 Ballard 10-1 at Caldwell Park Monday night.

Pella swept the first ten matches in order, only falling in No. 5 doubles. Jack Edwards, Vaughn Thompson, Lucas Heap, Caleb Briggs, Jack Briggs, and Geordie Laidlaw all earned singles wins. Edwards and Thompson both were on the 2019 state tennis runner-up team, and have high expectations on where 2021 could end, especially with a fast start.

The Lady Dutch had similar success at the home of the Bombers in Huxley, winning 9-2. Pella’s only losses came in No. 1 singles and doubles. Amelia Poe, Alloree Else, Noelle Ruckman, Allie Singer, and Willa Kelpe all earned wins one-on-one.

The boys tennis team next heads to the Johnston invitational Saturday, while the girls are off until they head to Boone Monday, when the boys will also be back on their home courts.


Pella Girls Soccer Get Fast Start in Marshalltown
It was the start the Lady Dutch soccer team was hoping for on the road to Marshalltown with a 5-0 win Monday. Pella had 20 shots on goal compared to zero for the Bobcats. Five different Lady Dutch players scored, including Macy Schulz, Abby Warner, Katie Leathers, Camille Dixson, and Roselande Vanderhoff. Pella is 1-0 and heads to Bondurant-Farrar Thursday.



Little Dutch Soccer Falls in OT to Fairfield
The Dutch boys soccer team dropped their first match of the season, falling in overtime to Fairfield 2-1. Shortly after the Trojans scored their first mark, Preston Rowe hit a long-distance goal in the 31st minute. Pella is 1-1 and heads to Indianola this evening at 7:00.
