The Pella City Council discussed requests related to Big Rock Park following regular business at their meeting Tuesday during policy and planning.

The first topic was a response to a letter from the Pella Disc Golf Club, who asked the city to refund donations received for construction of an 18-hole disc golf course, but the project has stalled as debate among residents and council halted work before completion. As part of a letter, the group proposed Bos Landen as a new location.

The second topic was a request from the Friends of the Big Rock Park to conduct an environmental study, and permission to apply for grant funding through the Marion County Community Foundation, with Central College conducting the survey.

Also during policy and planning, the council received a presentation from the Pella Area Community and Economic Alliance about potential events to keep visitors in town longer.
