The City of Pella partnered with Pella Christian High School Spanish Immersion Students to make recycling information more accessible to those who speak Spanish.

Pella Mayor Don DeWaard says an article he wrote in a recent newsletter generated several questions and comments about recycling, and how it works in the community. He says from there, the idea was formed with Spanish Immersion Rebecca Gomez to collaborate, and have students work on ways to translate Recycling details from Midwest Sanitation.

DeWaard says he encourages all residents to ask him and other City Council members questions or pass along concerns, even if the inquiry seems mundane, as he believes those details can ultimately help others throughout the community.

Hear more about the effort and from the students involved on the April 13th edition of Let’s Talk Pella.
