The Simpson College baseball team split a pair of blowouts with Wartburg in American Rivers Conference play Monday, while the Storm softball team could not recover from giving up 10 runs in the first two innings to end their series with Coe.

The Storm men got a solid pitching performance from Trey Castile in game one, surviving several Knights rallies early as Simpson put up eight runs in the fifth inning to put the game away 11-2. The second contest was the exact opposite, as Simpson couldn’t muster up any runs with their five hits and gave up a nine-run third inning to Wartburg in the loss 13-1.

The Storm softball team got a pair of home runs from Maddie Luderman including a grand slam in their series finale with Coe Monday, but couldn’t muster up enough offense after trailing 10-0 going into the bottom of the second. The Storm will next play rival Central tomorrow in a doubleheader that will be broadcast live on KNIAKRLS.com via the KNIA3 stream.
