The United States Congress is currently working on the American Jobs Plan proposed by President Biden, an infrastructure plan that aims to help rebuild and modernize the country. Congresswoman Cindy Axne tells KNIA News one of the main concerns she has heard has been some of the plans to expand green energy, affordable childcare, or rural broadband should not be considered infrastructure.

“I think that that is honestly an invalid attack, and I just don’t understand why if something is good we don’t just do it anyhow. This is so important to our country. Pushing back on something like that to me is a waste of time. Let’s get these things done for our country. Let’s make sure we can get our products to market more quickly and more safely, let’s make sure that our families can put money in their pockets and increase their take-home pay. Let’s make sure that every person has connectivity to build a better life for themselves. This is how we are going to get it done, and I think it’s a great plan.”

Axne also said the plan is currently projected to create thousands of jobs, with 70% of those going to those with a high school degree.
