The Knoxville Girls Tennis Squad fell to Grinnell on Monday 5-4. Olivia Maasdam, Alyssa Vaske, Riley Dailey, and Kate Schneider all recorded singles wins. The Panthers were swept in the doubles matches. Coach Nick DeMoss tells KNIA/KRLS Sports Schneider is showing improvement in her first season playing tennis.
DeMoss:
“She’s really starting to learn the game, and for a girls who’s never played before as a freshman and her doubles partner Elie Ensor who is a junior, they picked up a big win against Norwalk and that gave us the win, so hopefully they can keep improving.”
Both boys and girls squads are back on the courts today with the boys hosting and the girls traveling to Albia.

Coach Dylan Mick says many of the younger players are seeing varsity in any sport for the first time, so they are adjusting to being a part of a team…
Mick:
“We’ve got a lot of kids that are playing their first varsity minutes in any sports and they’re playing together for the first time, and they’re growing and doing well.”
