The Pella City Council will review a proposal to amend the City’s purchasing policy at their meeting this evening. A resolution, if approved, would allow the Pella Fire Department to buy a new fire truck through cooperative purchasing, which means organizations band together to bid on products and services competitively to increase purchasing power. The process is not currently allowed under city code, but state laws have changed since the last update in Pella was made in 2012. Council will also consider approving a lease agreement with Liberty Street Kitchen for rental of outdoor dining space, accepting improvements for the Prairie Ridge Sanitary Sewer Lift Station Project, and scheduling a public hearing for a proposed vacation of a public utility easement. The third reading of an ordinance for a planned unit development for the proposed Pella Market on Main Street and the second reading of an ordinance for a zoning change to light industrial on 218th Place near Eagle Electric are also on the agenda. The Pella City Council meeting begins at 6 p.m. tonight in the Pella Public Safety Complex on Liberty Street, and can also be viewed electronically: https://join.me/CityofPella
