Melcher-Dallas’ Reed Will Look For Her Second Berth to the State Tournament

Melcher-Dallas senior Kynser Reed will look for a berth to the state tournament Monday as she will compete at Prairie Knolls Country Club in North Mahaska.

Reed finished third individually in the regional meet at Pleasantville last Monday with a score of 100. Reed was the only non-Pleasantville golfer that finished in the top five in the meet. Reed will also be the only Melcher-Dallas golfer competing in the meet.

The meet will begin at Prairie Knolls Country Club at 9:00 AM.

Melcher-Dallas’ Softball Squad Begins Their Season at ACGC

Melcher-Dallas’ softball squad will begin their season on the road as they travel to Guthrie Center for a matchup with ACGC.

The Saints will be looking to continue competing at a high level after finishing 15-6 with a second round playoff loss at Martensdale-St. Mary’s. Melcher-Dallas will be returning their top seven hitters, including seniors Haley Godfrey, Kynser Reed, Grace Overgaard, and Riley and Kacey Enfield. The Saints also have a rising two-way player, BrieAnna Remster, who hit .407 and had a 14-3 record pitching. This will be the first matchup between the Saints and Chargers in the Varsity Bound era.

The season will begin at Guthrie Center High School at 7:00 PM.
