The Norwalk girls soccer team began its third state tournament in four seasons Tuesday at the Cownie Sports Complex in Des Moines, and hung on for a 3-2 victory over North Scott in the quarterfinals. Norwalk scored on a Reagan Teut goal within the first 10 minutes to get the scoring underway, but the teams went to the half tied at 1 after the Lancers got an answer later on. Anna Larson scored early in the second half for a 2-1 lead, which was again answered by North Scott with a goal of their own a few minutes later. JoJo Bice scored the winning goal on a free kick midway through the second half. Head Coach Andrew Messer was proud of his team’s performance in a back-and-forth battle.

The win moves third-seeded Norwalk to 16-2 overall. They’ll take on #7 seed Dallas Center-Grimes in today’s semifinal round. The Warriors earned a 1-0 win over the Mustangs in the regular season. Pregame coverage begins at 12:30 on 94.3 KNIA, with Jon Mohwinkle and Dustin Kralik calling the action. Kickoff on Field 6 is scheduled for 12:45.
