There were two different results along Panther Drive on Friday night against Davis County. The Softball girls posted their season best 4th straight victory and sixth in the last eight with a 6-2 win over the Mustangs. The Panthers, for what seems to be a trend, fell behind in the top of the 1st inning but responded with two runs in their half of the 1st to take a lead they would not relinquish. Four more runs in the 4th put the game out of reach. Coach Carla Smith tells KNIA/KRLS Sports, the girls are now more focused and find ways to get out of jams.

Ciara Heffron and Ashlyn Finarty both had two RBI with Heffron helping her own cause in the circle. She pitched seven strong innings scattering six hits, walking two and striking out six. Knoxville is now 14-6 on the season and improves to 4-3 in the South Central Conference. The Panthers head to Oskaloosa today to play Sigourney and Coach Smith’s alma mater Creston. Meanwhile, across the way on Panther Drive, Knoxville baseball outhit Davis County 8-4, but four errors cost the Panthers an 8-2 defeat. Davis County scored four runs in the 7th to put the game on ice. Beau Leisure took the loss going 6 1/3 innings allowing seven runs on just four hits and struck out eight. Dakota Ramsey led the Panthers with two hits. Knoxville is now 8-12 and 4-7 in conference play. Knoxville baseball will host Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont on Tuesday.
