pcm-vs-knoxville

The Knoxville baseball squad got out to a seven-run lead in the 6th inning Wednesday night against PCM and held on dear life for a 10-8 victory over the Mustangs. PCM scored five runs in the 7th inning, but Knoxville still managed to pull out the victory. PCM jumped out to a 2-0 lead early on, but Knoxville scored seven runs in the bottom of the 3rd sending 11 batters to the plate. Carson Uitermarkt got the win with a solid six innings of work scattering seven hits and striking out three. Coach Turner Devore told KNIA/KRLS Sports that the third inning was impressive to see all his guys hit the ball.

Devore:
“I thought we came right back at it tonight. We struggled to get guys out at times. Mike Hudson and Jaxon got solid hits, Mike with the triple, and Jaxon it’s not always pretty but he gets the job done, so I was pretty pleased with how things went tonight.”

PCM Coach Jeff Lindsay told KNIA/KRLS Sports he was pleased with the approach his guys took at the plate.

Lindsay:
“I thought our guys did a good job of not giving up and not getting anxious and not making more of it at any one time.”

Lindsay added the nine errors his team committed was disappointing, but they have a new season starting Saturday with district play. Zeb Padgett took the loss going 2 2/3 innings. At the plate for the Mustangs Easton Webb led going 3/4 with an RBI while Knoxville’s Jaxon Zuck, Trenton Kingery, and Mike Hudson all collected multiple hits. Knoxville is now 16-15 on the season and will travel to Mount Pleasant tonight for a varsity double header, while PCM finishes the regular season at 8-14 and will take on Pleasantville in the first round of the class 2A district on Saturday.
