Indianola’s softball squad shut out Dowling Catholic in their playoff opener, 11-0, as broadcast on 94.3 KNIA, while the Indians’ baseball squad got one win in their doubleheader at Council Bluffs-Lincoln Monday Night.

The Indians’ softball team had their game resumed from Saturday night and did not disappoint in their first playoff game. Alley May went two for three with two doubles and two runs scored. Macie Mays had the game-sealing home run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Kate Kralik was the star of the night as she pitched five perfect innings, striking out nine Maroons in the process. Coach Stacy Evans tells KNIA Sports that it was an all-around team effort that led to the shutout victory.

The Indians’ baseball squad took one of two games in their doubleheader with Council Bluffs-Lincoln. Indianola took game one with an impressive 12-1 victory thanks to scoring eight runs in the final two innings. The second game was called due to darkness at the Lincoln baseball field and ended in a 7-7 tie between the two teams. Council Bluffs-Lincoln tied the game in the bottom of the seventh.

Both teams will be back in action today as the softball squad will play in the regional final at home against Ankeny Centennial. The game will begin at 7:00 PM and will be broadcast on 94.3 KNIA. Indianola’s baseball squad will have a home doubleheader today against Sioux City East. The first game of the doubleheader will begin at 4:00 PM.
