The Norwalk baseball team begins what they hope is a long run in the Class 4A postseason tonight, hosting Council Bluffs Jefferson in the first round of Class 4A Substate 8. The Warriors earned the #1 seed in the substate with a 28-6 record, and were ranked much of the year before falling out of the most recent rankings. Norwalk will look to rebound from a skid which saw them three of their final four regular season games, and will likely face few, if any issues tonight.
The Yellow Jackets are the #6 seed in the substate, and just finished off an 0-31 regular season, being outscored by their opponents by an average score of 16-2.
A Norwalk win would earn them a bye to Wednesday’s substate final, which they would host. Tonight’s game will air on KNIA3 with Jon Mohwinkle and Michael Borst calling the action. Pregame coverage begins at 6:45, with the opening pitch from Norwalk at 7:00.
