The Norwalk baseball team is one win away from the Class 4A state tournament, and standing in their way is the Waukee Warriors in tonight’s Substate 8 final. Top-seeded Norwalk made it to this round with a first round win over Council Bluffs Jefferson, earning them the semifinal bye. #2-seed Waukee has won five of six, and secured their spot in tonight’s game with a 14-4, six-inning win over Council Bluffs Lewis Central in Monday’s semifinal. Norwalk Head Coach Chad Wiedmann says his team got a chance to see the game in person Monday night, and will have a better idea of their competition.

Waukee defeated Norwalk 3-0 early in the season, and has won all nine games in the VarsityBound series history. Norwalk is seeking its second straight state tournament appearance after winning last year’s Class 3A title, while Waukee will look to make it back for the seventh time in eight years. Tonight’s game will air on KNIA3 with Jon Mohwinkle and Michael Borst calling the action. Pregame coverage begins at 6:45, with the first pitch from Norwalk scheduled for 7:00.
