Starting Monday, we will reveal the top ten sports moments from this school year at Knoxville. While there were a lot of moments only ten can make it into the list, so today we are revealing the honorable mentions that were still exciting moments for Panther sports squads. Starting in the fall, for the fourth straight season, the Knoxville Volleyball Squad swept through the South Central Conference with a 7-0 record. The Panthers would make a run to the class 3A regional finals, where they ultimately lost in three sets to Red Oak. During the winter, Knoxville Boys Basketball Coach Jeff Larson suddenly resigned on January 13th. The Panthers were 5-4 at the time of Larson’s departure. Assistant Coach Matt Ritchhart took over as interim coach and guided the Panthers to an 8-5 finish with a 13-8 overall record. In April, Troy Pearson was hired as the new full time boys coach at Knoxville, while Ritchhart took the girls varsity post after the resignation of Jim Uitermarkt. On May 10th and 11th it was all Panthers, all the time as both the Knoxville boys and girls golf squads won the team and individual championships in the South Central Conference. Freshman Faith Rozeboom shot a 92 at Honey Creek Resort to win medallist honors for the girls, while Evan Smith shot a 70 at Edmundson in Oskaloosa to win medallist honors on the boys side. Monday we will reveal the top ten moments starting with number ten.
