The Knoxville Police Department has received a growing number of reports of vehicle burglaries and theft of items inside. Chief Aaron Fuller tells KNIA/KRLS News that the best way to avoid being a victim of this is to lock your vehicle, and keep valuable items out of sight. He says to follow a routine to ensure safety.

“The 9pm routine is to make sure your vehicle is locked, that your keys are out of it. Get your garage doors down, and make sure your house doors are locked. That helps avoid being a victim of a theft or crime.”

Fuller says almost all of these incidents involve unlocked vehicles.
