The State of Iowa Appeal Board held their September meeting Tuesday, ruling unanimously in favor of the City of Indianola regarding a budget protest from Indianola residents regarding the use of Local Option Sales Tax funds on the Square Reconstruction Project.

Petitioners argued when the Local Option Sales Tax measure was passed, the funds would go towards the Water Resource Recovery Facility and the square project is not a legal use, while the city argued the funds are going towards the facility in addition to the infrastructure needs on the square.

The Indianola Square Reconstruction Project is currently in Phase 1 of construction, which is scheduled to be completed by mid-November.
