The Knoxville Volleyball Squad for the second straight week, lost a 2-0 lead and fell to Davis County on Tuesday night. The Panthers won the first two sets 25-20 and 25-23, but fell in the final three sets to the Mustangs 25-23, 25-20, and 15-13. The Panthers were again plagued with hitting errors as they made 36. Knoxville falls to 5-4 on the season and 0-2 in the South Central Conference. The Panthers are off until next Tuesday when they travel to Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont.

The Knoxville Boys Cross Country Squad finished 9th while the girls were 8th, led by the return of junior runner Norah Pearson in 20th place. Pearson, who has been rehabbing a knee injury suffered during the basketball season last winter, ran a time of 22:51. Pearson is also ranked 8th in the latest class 3A girls rankings according to the Iowa Track Coaches Association. Girls Coach Mikayla Splavec tells KNIA/KRLS Sports with Pearson back in the mix, there will be a lot of competition for 2nd on down for varsity spots.

Splavec:
“Janie Maasdam is a freshman that should be one of our top runners, and we have a good pack of girls that I really don’t know who could be our 5, 6, or 7 it could be anyone.”

Seth Walraven led the boys over the line in 10th in a time of 18:05. The Panthers will run again on Tuesday in Oskaloosa.
