Pella Christian Cross Country begins a busy week tonight as they have their first of two meets this week. The Eagles will make the short trip down Highway 163 to compete in Oskaloosa.

The Eagles come into the Oskaloosa-hosted meet off strong second place finishes for both the boys and girls teams at Davis County last Thursday, and Joslyn Terpstra won the girls meet. Following Pella Christian’s third meet of the year at Edmundson Park, the Eagles will run in the Lynnville-Sully meet on Thursday at Diamond Trail Golf Course in Lynnville. Eagles Head Coach Mike Buchheit knows he will have to be strategic with keeping his runners fresh in between the closely scheduled meets.

“We certainly want to run our best at Oskaloosa and then on Thursday at Lynnville-Sully. The reality is we have three meets in seven days, which is a lot and is probably too much for some of these kids that it’s their first year running cross country. We may be pretty selective on which runners run in which race. We have no qualms about sitting some of those kids out of some of those races, to make sure we’re not overdoing it.”

Pella Christian’s meet tonight at Edmundson Park in Oskaloosa is scheduled to begin at 5 pm following the junior high race at 4:15pm.
