PCM’s volleyball squad will look to get back in the win column this week as they take on Saydel for the second time this season.

The Mustangs currently stand at 5-11 on the season and 1-3 in Heart of Iowa Conference play. The only win the Mustangs have this season in conference play was against Saydel in the Newton Early Bird Invitational August 24. PCM has lost five consecutive matches coming into today, and have also lost six of their last seven. Their only win in the last seven games was against Hudson in the BCLUW tournament September 4. The Mustangs also have lost three straight conference games to Roland-Story, Greene County, and Nevada. Despite the team’s struggles, coach Mike Vittetoe states that he is trying to keep a positive attitude towards his team.

“I’m trying to keep positive with the girls. I don’t want them to get down. I want them to understand that you are going to make mistakes but you are just going to have to brush it off because if you make a mistake the other team is going to target you. If you make a mistake passing wise they are going to keep serving it to you. You’re just going to have to step up.”

The matchup between the two Heart of Iowa Conference foes at PCM High School will begin at 7:00 PM.
