The #9 in Class 4A Norwalk football team plays its final non-district game of the season tonight, playing host to conference foe Dallas Center-Grimes. The Warriors enter 2-1 overall, and will look for a response after a humbling loss at Lewis Central last week. The Mustangs are off to a surprising 0-3 start, with blowout losses to North Polk and Bondurant-Farrar, and a 17-16 home loss to Johnston last week. Head Coach Paul Patterson says the Warriors will need to establish a better run game against a team with a chip on their shoulder.

“We’ve got to be able to run the football some. We weren’t able to run the football at all, we had like 11 yards rushing against Lewis Central. We can’t have that and be successful against Dallas Center-Grimes. Maybe a little more misdirection in the backfield will help us, and putting some of our kids who need to be in a different place in a different place in order to take advantage of what kind of skillset they bring for us.”

Norwalk will be without leading receiver Braedon Carlson and Jackson Campbell, who are both recovering from injuries. The teams are meeting for the fourth year in a row, and the Warriors have lost two straight in the series. Tonight’s game will air on KNIA3 with Jon Mohwinkle and Chris Larson calling the action. Pregame coverage begins at 6:30, with the opening kickoff from Mineart Field at 7:30.
