The Simpson College women’s golf team had a trio compete in the Prairie Wolves Fall Invitational at Mahoney Golf Course in Lincoln, Nebraska this weekend. Freshman Madeline Streicher finished in 10th with a two day score of 169, freshman Taylor Elam earned a 28th place finish with a 190, and . Sophomore Hannah Mulligan shot a 209 to finish in 37th. The Storm compete in the Iowa Wesleyan Classic today, their last tune-up before the American Rivers Conference Championships in October.

The Simpson College women’s soccer had its largest scoring output in four matches to win 4-1 against Monmouth on Sunday. Junior Cassie Nash scored twice before Monmouth netted a goal, then the Storm got insurance goals from Cambri Mason and Jordan Foelske. Sophomore Benny Frederick saved eight shots in the contest. The Storm are now 6-2-1, and host St. Catherine tonight.

The Simpson College men’s soccer team dropped a 1-0 match at Knox on Saturday. The Storm could not get the ball in the back of the net despite a 13-11 shot advantage, including 10 in the second half to try and earn the victory, while Knox scored a goal in the 83rd minute to win the contest. Freshman William Kopp was busy in goal for Simpson by snagging six shots. The Storm begin conference play Saturday at Loras.

The Storm women’s tennis team competed at the ITA Regionals this weekend. Top singles player Anna Wanek advanced to the third round of the contest, while Emily King made it to the second round. In doubles play, the duo of Wanek and King advanced to the second round before falling. Donni Kinghorn, Kennedi Wright, and Bella Tranquilino all competed in lower singles classes in the competition. The Storm return to American Rivers Conference play on Oct. 2 against Loras and Dubuque.

Senior Peter Walkwitz finished with a bronze in the B-Singles flight in the American Rivers Conference Individual Tournament on Saturday for the Storm men’s tennis squad. Walkwitz won his first three matches before dropping the semifinals contest, and coming out on top in the third-place match. Jake Brend made the second round of the C-singles bracket, while the duo of Adam Velazquez and Chase Henry made the second round of the B-doubles. The Storm won’t hit the court again until after the new year.
